Senior Program Auditor 

Agricorp is looking for a Senior Program Auditor who is customer focused and results oriented to join our Risk Management department within the Corporate Services division. Agricorp’s audit  team consists of  internal auditors who are highly motivated and professional. Through effective development of team processes, the audit group ensures that program audits are conducted with rigour and consistency to meet industry standards. Senior Program Auditors help Agricorp successfully meet its legislated mandate, program service agreements and operational goals by providing senior leaders with information that mitigates and eliminates business risks.  

The Role

Agricorp’s Senior Program Auditor provides documented compliance of customer eligibility and program payment decisions for the most significant and complex cases (i.e., those with large dollar values or containing the highest financial and reputational risks for Agricorp.) This role also provides day-to-day functional direction and on-the-job training/coaching to program auditors. In this role, you will:

  • Be accountable for end-to-end responsibility for a wide range of complex or multi-faceted program audits requiring senior level knowledge and experience, which includes developing pre-audit parameters, program auditing, analysis, recommendations and report preparation
  • Demonstrate due diligence in providing audit services at a senior level; collect, inspect and analyze data to detect deficient controls, duplicated effort, extravagance, fraud or non-compliance with laws, regulations and Agricorp policies 
  • Examine and evaluate financial and information systems, and corresponding business systems and methods, recommending controls to ensure reliability, integrity and consistent application
  • Consult with the Risk Management team todetermine the number of audits to be conducted each year (pre-payment, random, targeted, high-risk and large amount audits) as well as the scope of each audit dependent upon any issues that are present
  • Maintain and manage working relationships with producers and their agents to exchange complex information and ensure timely and accurate completion of the audit process
  • Resolve escalated issues using significant past experience, specialized program knowledge, critical thinking and analytical skill, standard tools and procedures, and broad collaboration with colleagues across Agricorp
  • Coach and mentor new program auditors and associate program auditors to develop strong functional and professional skills in the team
  • Help program auditors deal with day-to-day operational and technical challenges to ensure delivery of services and to protect deadlines and commitments
  • Assist the manager in scheduling, work assignments and other key priorities as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agri-business, Commerce, Finance, Risk Management, or a related field of study or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of five years’ experience in auditing and financial analysis; experience in the agriculture and insurance sector an asset
  • Experience in communicating findings and recommendations to diverse and senior audiences
  • Experience with Microsoft Office
  • Senior level knowledge of Agricorp programs and systems an asset
  • Experience in the public sector an asset
