Starting in 2019, plum producers enrolled in Production Insurance will receive a separate yield guarantee for their Japanese and European plums, and each claim will be assessed separately.
This change has been made to provide a variety of coverage that better reflects the agronomic difference between plum varieties.
Producers enrolled in the Production Insurance plan for tender fruits are guaranteed a level of production based on their yield history and the level of coverage they choose. Payments are made when an insured peril causes a producer's yield to fall below their guaranteed production.
