The forage rainfall plan is being reviewed to explore ways to provide better coverage for producers. Agricorp is working with industry and the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food (OMAF) to review the Production Insurance forage rainfall plan to identify possible improvements.
The review of the plan was prompted by a hot and dry 2012 growing season which resulted in forage issues in many parts of the province. Agricorp and OMAF formed an industry advisory committee to review the existing forage plan and discuss options for improvements to forage coverage. Discussion with the advisory committee will continue through to June. Recommendations for possible changes to forage coverage will be developed and forwarded to Agricorp’s board of directors and OMAF.
The advisory committee includes:
Producer feedback is welcome
Forage producers who would like to provide input can complete an online survey or give feedback directly to one of the farm organizations that participate on the advisory committee.
Agricorp is committed to working collaboratively with producers, farm organizations and government partners to ensure ongoing improvements to the products and services available to Ontario producers.
