The Plum Pox Eradication Program is mandatory. If your trees test positive for the plum pox virus, you are required to comply when the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) orders you to dispose of your affected trees.
To qualify for funding, you must:
- Grow trees in the survey or quarantine area – the northern Niagara Peninsula from Grimsby to the Niagara River
- Grow at least one of: peaches, plums, apricots or nectarines
- Receive a Notice to Dispose from the CFIA
- Receive income from the specific species listed on the CFIA’s Notice to Dispose
- Meet all deadlines
You are not eligible to receive payments from both the Plum Pox Eradication Program and the Orchards and Vineyards Transition Program on the same block of trees.
