How do I become a new participant in the CAIS Program?
To participate in CAIS, complete the new CAIS participant package. This package will outline all the steps necessary to become a new participant in the CAIS program.
Is there an administrative fee for CAIS?
The Administrative Cost Share (ACS) is $55 per account per year. The ACS will be deducted from any program benefits payable to a participant for a given program year. In years where no program benefits are payable to the participant, the ACS owing may be collected through other mechanisms, which may include deducting the ACS from future CAIS program benefits.
What do I have to do for the 2005 program year?
The deadline to secure coverage for the 2005 CAIS program year has now passed. Producers that secured 2005 coverage, must do the following for the CAIS program to calculate their 2005 program benefits:
- Complete and submit a signed copy of the Joint 2005 CAIS program Application by June 30, 2006
- Complete and submit a copy of the CAIS program forms - Schedule 1 Production Summary and Schedule 2 Inventory, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable by June 30, 2005
- Submit to CRA, your 2005 farming income (or loss) for tax purposes on a T1163 by June 15, 2006 if you are an individual or on a CAIS Statement A by June 30, 2006 if you are a corporation.
