Production Insurance
Leafy vegetables, acreage-loss basis

Eligibility

Your responsibilities

  • Follow good farm management practices. If your practices contribute to a production loss, you may lose some or all of your insurance coverage.
  • Meet all deadlines to ensure that your Production Insurance contract remains in good standing.
  • Contact us if your business structure changes, including changes to name, address, shareholders and farm management practices.
  • Report damage as soon as it occurs.
  • Contact us five days before the start of harvest so that we can inspect, if necessary.
  • Insure all commodities grown in the same group (root, fruit, leafy, other). For example, if you insure three acres of onions and grow two acres of carrots you must also insure the carrots because they are both in the root commodity group.

Exception: A single commodity in a group may be insured individually if 10 acres or more are grown.

Organic commodities may be insured under any of the commodity groups (root, fruit, leafy, other).
