Map shows insured winter wheat acres

​​With colder temperatures on the way, many Ontario winter wheat producers can take comfort in knowing their crops are covered against risks beyond their control. More than 680,000 acres of winter wheat are insured under Production Insurance for 2018.  

Production Insurance has producers covered

From seeding until harvest, Production Insurance helps producers protect their business against challenges such as adverse weather, disease, wildlife and insect infestations. Production Insurance guarantees them a level of production based on their yield history and the level of coverage they choose. A claim may be paid if an insured peril causes a producer's yield to fall below their guaranteed production.
