​Our commitment to protecting your privacy

Collecting personal information about you is essential to our ability to offer you quality programs. Personal information collected, used, disclosed, and retained by Agricorp is done so under the authority of the AgriCorp Act, 1996, the Freedom of formation and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA), or other relevant legislation. We take care to keep your personal information accurate, confidential, and secure. This privacy statement describes how we do that.

How we collect, use, and disclose personal information

We ask you for only the information we need

We collect only the information we need for the purposes we have identified to you. Files are kept for the purpose of administering programs. We will not disclose or transfer your personal information to outside parties, except to service providers acting on our behalf who have agreed to comply with privacy requirements.

Why we need the information

Generally, we need to collect personal information to:

  • Understand your needs
  • Determine your eligibility for our programs
  • Continue to offer you the full range of programs that we believe meet your changing needs and to administer those programs
  • Meet regulatory or contractual requirements for the programs you participate in.

We will make sure you understand why we need the information by using clear, understandable language when we identify the purpose.

We will obtain your permission

We collect, use, or disclose your personal information with your permission.

Your permission may be expressed in writing or may be implied, and you may give it to us verbally, electronically, or through your authorized representative.

You may withdraw your permission at any time. This may impact our ability to deliver programs to you.

Before we make information​ available to third parties, other than service providers who assist us in the administration and delivery of our programs, we will tell you at the time we obtain your consent or before we make the information available who those persons or organizations are, the kind of information we want to share with them, and why.

We will limit how long we keep information

We will keep your personal information only as long as it is required for the efficient administration and delivery of our programs, or as required by law. Agricorp complies with legal requirements for managing, storing and destroying your personal information contained within our files. When we destroy personal information, we will use safeguards to prevent unauthorized parties from gaining access to the information during the process.

Job applicants

Individuals applying for positions with Agricorp in response to our online job postings will be asked to submit the following information: name; address; phone number(s); e-mail address; education level; occupational history; skill profile, and other personal information that may be requested by Agricorp. This personal information will not be used for any purpose other than to determine your suitability for the position you are applying for. If you are not selected for the position you have applied for, Agricorp may keep this personal information for the purpose of evaluating your suitability for positions that may open in the future.

We will protect your personal information

We are responsible for your information

We are responsible for all personal information in our possession, including information transferred to third-party service providers for the administration of programs. All employees and authorized service providers of Agricorp are required to protect the confidentiality of your personal information. Your personal information will only be used to fulfill the purpose for which it was originally collected, or for a use consistent with that purpose. We do not and will not disclose your information to other parties except as required under FIPPA or other applicable laws.

How we protect information

Access to your personal information is restricted to Agricorp's employees and authorized service providers are responsible for administration and delivery of our programs to you. We have developed and continue to enhance security procedures to safeguard and protect personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized disclosure, copying, and unauthorized use or modification. We will maintain appropriate safeguards and security procedures that reflect:

  • The types of documents, including electronic or paper records
  • Organizational measures including security clearances and limiting access on a "need-to-know" basis
  • Technological measures such as the use of passwords and encryption.

Note: For security reasons, Agricorp does not recommend sending documents containing your social insurance number by email.

Your right to access your personal information

Your rights

You have the right to ask whether we hold any personal information about you and to see that information if we do, as provided by law. You also have the right to know:

  • How we collected your personal information
  • How we are using it.​

How to request an update or correction

If you believe any of the information we have collected about you is incorrect or incomplete, you have the right to ask us to change it. If you show that your personal information is inaccurate or incomplete, we will make the necessary changes. If you feel we have not dealt with your request to your satisfaction, you can use the following  complaint resolution process.

How to register complaints or concerns

You can register a privacy-related complaint or concern by contacting Agricorp’s Privacy/FOI Officer. We will explain Agricorp’s complaint procedure to you and the next steps. We investigate all complaints. If a complaint is justified, we will take all appropriate steps to set the situation right, including changing our policies and practices if necessary. We will also let you know what other complaint procedures may be available to you.

Cookies

Cookies are small data files that are sent to your browser and stored on your computer's hard-drive when you visit certain websites. Agricorp.com uses cookies to track visits and to make it more convenient for you to move around the site.

Web analytics

To serve you better, we use web analytics services including Google Analytics to help analyze the use of our websites. These tools use cookies to collect and generate information about your visits to our sites (including your IP address) that is transmitted to their servers in an anonymous form for processing. We study patterns of website activity so we can improve the experience of visitors to our sites.

The use of these tools does not allow us or our analytics service providers to identify individuals.

You can opt out of analytics activity by setting your browser to notify you when a cookie is sent and block analytics cookies if desired. Please consult your browser's Help Menu for instructions. Visiting our website with analytics cookies disabled will have no significant impact on your browsing experience.

Google currently offers a free Google Analytics opt-out tool for Microsoft Internet Explorer 8-11, Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox and Safari.

This privacy statement and/or our privacy practices may change at any time without prior notice. When such a change is made, we will provide you with notice on our website. Any changes made will not adversely affect your privacy rights. Your continued use of our website following the posting of changes to this statement will mean that you accept those changes. Changes will be in effect once they are posted.
