With the planting season for winter wheat wrapped up, over 584,000 acres have been reported under Production Insurance for the 2022 program year.
Farmers who reported their acres and secured coverage against winterkill may be eligible for a reseeding benefit of $111 per acre if their crop does not survive the winter.
If farmers did not insure their crop this fall, they can still apply for Production Insurance without winterkill by May 1, 2022.
The following map shows just over 525,000 acres of soft red winter wheat reported under Production Insurance for the 2022 program year.

OMAFRA statistics site on December 3, 2021, when total Ontario winter wheat plantings for the 2022-23 crop year will be reported.
