2025 grain and oilseed maps show millions of acres covered by Production Insurance

August 5, 2025

Thousands of Ontario farmers rely on Production Insurance each year to protect their investments. For the 2025 program year, the number of insured acres is similar to last year. The total number of acres for all insured commodities in 2025 is 5.2 million acres to date. Of that, there are 1.73 million corn acres and 2.17 million soybean acres. Farmers can take comfort in knowing these valuable acres are covered against risks beyond their control.

How Production Insurance can help

During the summer, Agricorp knows farmers across Ontario are watching the weather, especially for rain. Getting the right amount of rain at the right time is never guaranteed, and too little or too much rain can be harmful to farm businesses.

Production Insurance is designed to cover yield reductions and production losses caused by factors beyond a farmer's control, including adverse weather, disease, pests, wildlife, or other uncontrollable natural perils. Coverage is available for over 100 commodities.

As farmers monitor their crops over the coming months, they should contact Agricorp if they notice any new or additional damage, even if they have already reported damage this season. In cases of damage, the sooner final yields are reported, the sooner Agricorp can begin working on any claims.
