Get Fall Policy Production Insurance

October 1, 2025

Ontario's winter wheat crop plays an important role in the province's agriculture sector, with over a million acres planted each year.

Winter wheat faces a unique risk: surviving the winter.

Production Insurance for winter wheat gives farmers peace of mind and options to protect their yield against losses. Winterkill coverage is included, so if a crop doesn't survive the winter, a replant claim in the spring can help to offset losses. Replant claims reflect the average costs of seed, tillage, and planting.

In addition to the winterkill coverage, winter wheat is covered from planting right through to harvest. Coverage protects against production losses and yield reductions caused by insured perils, such as too much rain or not enough.

What Production Insurance gives you

  • A guaranteed level of production
  • Claim prices that reflect market prices
  • Coverage for winterkill* and production loss
  • Quality factoring that may be applied to a yield of lower quality wheat, increasing the likelihood, and size, of a payment

Farmers can also insure winter wheat without winterkill in the spring. Contact Agricorp by May 10, 2026 to apply for coverage.
