Eligibility

All farm businesses in Ontario that gross $7,000 or more annually are required by law to register their farm business with Agricorp.

Note for 2020 farm incomes that may have been negatively impacted by COVID-19: For existing farm businesses, Agricorp may base the farm business gross farm income on 2019 tax returns instead. Farmers in this situation can simply make their FBR payment online, or as indicated on their invoice. These farm businesses will continue to be eligible for the FBR program and will maintain access to agricultural programs, including a reduced farm tax rate.

Exemptions from FBR

If religious beliefs cause you to disagree with registering your farm business or making the registration payment, you may qualify for an exemption.

Contact the Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Appeal Tribunal at 1-888-466-2372, ext. 519-826-3433.

The tribunal will provide you with an application form and further instructions.
