Assurance during planting

Since perfect planting conditions are never guaranteed, Production Insurance has built-in benefits to help Ontario grain and oilseed producers during the planting season.

Each year can bring its own set of challenges. Unpredictable weather, pests or disease can interfere with best-laid plans and result in a number of unplanned costs for producers.

So far this spring, many parts of the province have had a cool, wet and windy planting season. While some producers are off to a good start, others are experiencing planting delays or damage to their crops already in the ground.

Production Insurance is designed to help in situations like these.

Producers who are concerned about their crops should contact Agricorp for help through the claim process. The sooner Agricorp knows about potential damage, the sooner we can help producers by explaining their insurance options and getting them started on next steps.

Learn more about unseeded acreage and reseeding benefits

Production Insurance includes benefits that cover different situations producers could face during planting:

  • The unseeded acreage benefit: Helps cover the financial burden of fixed costs and land maintenance when a producer can't plant because of something like excessive rainfall.
  • The reseeding benefit: Provides options to optimize a producer yield by helping cover the costs of replanting crops that experience damage.

For more details about how these benefits work, please read the Unseeded Acreage and Reseeding Benefits Feature Sheet.
