Farmers have until June 30 to secure RMP coverage

April 2, 2020

On April 1, the Ontario government announced that farmers will have until June 30, 2020, to apply for or make changes to coverage under RMP for livestock and RMP: Grains and Oilseeds.

Extending the RMP deadlines gives farmers more time to make business decisions and to assess their program coverage needs, especially while dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic. This support is critical for the agricultural industry.

Coverage options for 2020 will not be affected, and program delays will not cause gaps in coverage, ensuring farmers continue to have coverage in place.

Agricorp sent renewals to livestock producers in February, and RMP: Grains and Oilseeds renewals are currently in the mail. Both are also available through online services at SDRM: Edible Horticulture packages go out in the fall.

Although the deadline has changed, producers should apply or change coverage as soon as they're ready to get their coverage in place.
