Unpredictable weather, and fluctuating costs and markets created challenges for many Ontario farmers this year.
AgriStability interim payments can help address these challenges – when farmers need it most.
So far this year, Ontario farmers have received more than $3.4 million in interim payments.
How interim payments work
AgriStability customers who need cash flow now don't have to wait for their year-end claim forms to get a payment. They can apply for an interim payment, which is an advance of 50% of their estimated final payment.
To receive a 2025 interim payment, customers need to submit a 2025 interim payment application by
December 31. Customers whose fiscal year does not follow the calendar need to apply for an interim payment before their fiscal year ends.
About AgriStability
AgriStability helps protect farmers from large income declines.
If a farm's income drops below 70% of their recent average income (reference margin), AgriStability can help cover part of the shortfall.
For the 2025 program year only, the federal and provincial governments
increased the AgriStability compensation rate from 80% to 90%, along with increasing the maximum payment limit from $3 million to $6 million.
