Beef Cattle Financial Protection Program

Sellers

Beef cattle producers (including cooperatives) selling their cattle to a licensed dealer must pay a remittance fee on each sale. The licensed dealer collects this fee. The fees are deposited into a fund, which is managed by the Livestock Financial Protection Board.

If a buyer defaults on payment, the seller may qualify for a claim payment from the fund.

Note: Sellers can also be licensed dealers (and must also remit a fee), including:

  • Packing plant operators
  • Abattoir operators
  • Auction market operators
  • Fair operators
  • Exhibition operators
  • Country dealers

If you have not received payment according the payment timeline, contact Agricorp immediately to notify the Director. Agricorp staff will work with you to make a claim to the Livestock Financial Protection Board, including sending you the required documentation to file a claim.
